Academics

As a parent, what grand vision do you hold for your child's educational voyage? What profound experiences do you dream of them encountering?  Whom would you deem fit to be the wise architects of your child's inquisitive mind?

Your quest to search for the perfect place and people for your child’s educational journey ends here. Welcome to Avalon!

Early Years

Grades Nursery to Sr. KG

“Little minds brim with incredulous ideas; little hearts contain infinite love; and little hands support the world with their unstinted willingness to help!”

Every child is born with an innate ability to live, love, and learn uninhibitedly. Avalon engenders an open, nurturing, and safe space where we fuel the individuality, spirit, and resourcefulness of every toddler to make them confident, content individuals.

Following in the ideologies propounded by luminaries like Frederick Froebel, Reggio Emelia, and Dr. Howard Gardner, we create bespoke, experiential learning programs that aim at fostering a play-based, self-directed learning program. To this end, we use a six-pronged approach:

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development

This area focuses on cultivating dispositions, attitudes, self-confidence, self-esteem, building relationships, nurturing positive behavior and self-control, and fostering a sense of community among our young learners.

Communication, Language, and Literacy

We guide our students in developing their language skills, both for effective communication and thoughtful expression. This encompasses language for communication, language for thinking, linking sounds and letters, reading, writing, and handwriting.

Problem Solving, Reasoning, and Numeracy

Our curriculum equips children with numerical and problem-solving skills, including understanding numbers, counting, calculations, and exploring shapes, space, and measurements.

Physical Development

We emphasize the importance of physical well-being, encompassing movement and spatial awareness, health and bodily awareness, and the use of equipment and materials to promote active and healthy lifestyles.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

This area encourages exploration, investigation, designing, making, proficiency in information and communication technology (ICT), understanding concepts of time and place, and fostering a sense of belonging to various communities.

Creative Development

We nurture creativity through artistic endeavors, including exploring various media and materials, creating music and dance, and fostering imaginative play, all of which help in the development of a child's imagination and creativity.

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development

Our primary objective is to build attitudes, dispositions, esteem, and relationships. From the formative years, Avalon instils a strong sense of community by cultivating and practicing positive perspectives and behaviours.

Communication, Language, and Literacy

Children who read become adults who think. We ensure children not only develop the ability to read, write, and comprehend better, but also become better listeners, thinkers, and communicators. Our robust literacy program starts with the barebones of letters and sounds and works all the way towards stringing together words, sentences, and ideas with ease. In so doing, we give our learners a strong head start in their learning journeys.

Problem Solving, Reasoning, and Numeracy

Every child is a mathematician – provided you teach them what counts! Working with symbolic and non-symbolic numbers and operations, Avalon’s numeracy program for the early years focuses on learners being able to work with numbers, spatial arrangements, shapes, and computations.

Physical Development

Physical and physiological development in the formative years translates into overall growth and development through life. Including spatial awareness, movement, exercises, and the development of gross and fine motor skills, we build active and energized children with a zest for learning and life!

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

The creation of global citizenship comes when there is cultural sensitization and awareness from a young age. Through our experiential approach toward global climates, lifestyles, and cultures, we foster a stronger sense of discernment, acceptance, and belonging to a larger ethos.

Creative Development

Creativity comes from purposeful play. We employ a plethora of stimuli, both conventional and unorthodox, to help children ideate imaginatively and expand their horizons. These playful learning grounds help create visionaries and pioneers for the future.

We put the KIND back in kindergarten! Everything that Avalon does in the early years is marked by the highest standards of nurturance and care. This is what makes every Avalon learner more secure, confident, and happy. We encourage children to be themselves, accept themselves and others, and blossom in ways that bring out the best they are meant to be.

Primary and Middle Years

Grades I to VIII

“Conventional education helps prepare you for life; education at Avalon is where real life meets you head-on!”

The primary and middle school years at Avalon aim at making students life-ready in every way. Whether in improving temperament and intellect, personality and presentation, or even life skills, it all comes alive in our classrooms. In equipping learners to embrace a dynamic 21st-century landscape, we espouse:

Integrated learning approach

Life is a sum of complex experiences woven into one. To help demystify the world and its complex theories, we have done away with subject fragments and promote interdisciplinary learning experiences. Watch and marvel as languages, history, music, and art come together seamlessly and create a cogent, comprehensive revelation.

Project-based learning

Going far beyond rote learning and memorization, our thematic project-based approach promotes and develops skills of reasoning, questioning, and investigation. While making connections and solving meaningful problems, students also take ownership of collective accomplishments as a class and collaboration among peers.

Habits of mind

The end of education is the cultivation of character. The 16 Habits of Mind, woven intrinsically into every learning nugget allow children to remain lifelong learners by reflecting on their thinking, building interdependence, and continuing to view the world with wonder and awe.

Global citizenship

In preparing our students to be globally responsive, responsible individuals, we have linked our projects and learning to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. By encouraging better life choices, conscious consumerism, and an improved world for all, we leave learners aspiring to be and do more for the world they are gifted with.

Through these tentative years, where students are opening themselves to a world of self-discovery and global exploration, we extend a space that is non-competitive, inclusive, and open. We empower students to use their discretion to give them direction and help them chart the course to become the individuals they are destined to be.

Sports and Physical Education

We understand that children undergo distinct stages of physical development at varying ages, which is why our physical education program is thoughtfully aligned with their normative and dynamic development.

Our commitment to nurturing physical and mental development includes:

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development

Our comprehensive physical education programs encompass a wide range of activities, including sports, yoga, and games. These activities not only promote physical fitness but also instill valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, resilience, and self-confidence.

Medical Check-ups:

To ensure the well-being of our students, we conduct annual medical and dental check-ups. These check-ups serve as proactive measures to identify health issues in a timely manner. The reports are shared with parents, and recommendations are provided for any necessary follow-up actions.

Health & Nutrition Education:

We believe in the importance of educating our students about healthy food habits, as well as topics related to sex education and hygiene. To this end, we organize talks, workshops, and special assemblies to provide students with essential knowledge and awareness.

Physical Education Programs

Our holistic physical education programs prioritize an hour each day for the well-being of our students. This includes half an hour of invigorating free play during games to foster social skills, creativity, and imagination, along with promoting physical health. We begin each day with a half-hour session of structured exercises targeting core muscle groups, setting a positive tone for the day. We make sure that every grade has a 'Games Period' 4 times a week so that your child can stay physically active, foster teamwork, and enjoy a break from academic studies to promote overall well-being.

Solo Victory Symphony

In alignment with our commitment to sports excellence, Avalon as a school fervently supports and promotes athletic achievements. Numerous individual students have not only excelled at the national level but have also secured victories in both indoor and outdoor games. This dedication to sports is not merely a facet of our curriculum but a testament to our ethos of fostering well-rounded individuals who thrive in both academic and athletic pursuits.

Teamwork Triumphs

Avalon takes pride in the accolades earned by our students, showcasing their prowess across all age groups and genders. Our athletes consistently prove their mettle at various levels, competing and succeeding in interschool, district, and state-level competitions. This diverse range of accomplishments underscores our school's commitment to nurturing talent and providing a platform for students to shine in the realm of sports, fostering a culture of achievement and sportsmanship.

Health and Well-being Initiatives

Avalon prioritizes the holistic health of its students through annual medical and dental check-ups, ensuring timely identification of health issues. Reports are shared with parents, along with recommendations for follow-up actions. Additionally, our commitment extends to comprehensive health and nutrition education, covering topics such as healthy food habits, sex education, hygiene, and mental health. Through talks, workshops, and special assemblies, we empower students with essential knowledge, fostering a culture of proactive well-being.

The emergence of COVID-19 emphasized the importance of health, leading to the inception of "Swasth Avalon." This initiative stands for 'Students for Wellness Awareness, Scientific Temperament, and Health' and is a testament to our commitment to promoting a healthy body and a sound mind within our community.

"Swasth Avalon" is a week-long festival that sheds light on various dimensions of health and wellness. While the festival spans a week, our dedication to fitness and wellness awareness extends throughout the academic year.
